ALLOW MYSELF, TO INTRODUCE… MYSELF

My first post was a little on the brief side, so I thought I’d elaborate with this fine chapter, so that you actually have a grasp of who I am, apart from a film geek indulging in film geekiness, in his final year of teenagery.
As this blog title may suggest, they calls me Adam. Adam Stephen Kelly to be exact. Why have I mentioned my middle name? Because after miles and miles of thought, I’ve decided that as a writer-director, that’s what I’d like to be credited as. Capice?
With film being my greatest passion in life, it would only be fitting to couple it with my greatest aspiration in life: to make a career out of film-making. A successful one at that. My dream is to bring to life the stories that I tell on those countless spiral notebooks, to incarnate the characters and the actions I scrawl with my army of pens and pencils. And by God, it is a dream I will realise.
Now imagine that dream as the Core Dream. It’s a big cloud with lines sprawling out from it in every direction, attaching itself to other smaller clouds. A spider diagram if you will, you know, those things you drew at school when you were collating ideas. They were called “brainstorms”, but that was changed because apparently it offended people with epilepsy. For the benefit of those who agree with me that the aforementioned is somewhere near the height of rediculousness, I will refer to this dream web as a brainstorm. So, this is my brainstorm of film-making aspirations. There’s that nice and fluffy, dreamy cloud in the centre, and surrounding it are such objectives as “Sell first screenplay” and “Write first feature film”. Well, you can tick the box next to the latter, because I wrote my first feature film a long time ago now. With regard to the “Sell first screenplay” cloud, I’m inclined to write half a tick in the box, to put my mind at ease. I am on the eve of sealing a deal that will have me selling a 45-minute “mini-feature” that I scribed. When that’s done and dusted, well, I’ll be on my way to ticking every box that every cloud has to offer in my brainstorm of dreams. You get the idea.
I write and I write and I write and I write. When I’ve written a script that I can personally produce, I direct it too. Film is my life (if you haven’t noticed).
My intention for this blog is to write about anything I feel compelled to write that relates to film, from opinions on actors and actresses, writers and directors, reviews, films I’m looking forward to, DVD collection updates, etc. I really do mean anything flickish. I will most likely also write about anything that’s on my mind that desperately needs to leak out of my fingertips from time-to-time, even if it doesn’t concern the magical world of motion pictures. But we’ll see how things get on. Or more precisely, how I get on in this “blogosphere”.
I will now bid you a fond farewell, but shall close this post with a few tidbitty sentences:
My favourite genre of cinema is horror.
My favourite film of all time is Steven Spielberg’s Jaws.
Twilight is moronic and Robert Pattinson’s good looks are obviously just a placebo effect. The man’s ugly. Admit it.
This video is absolutely hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtG6JOeNFqY
No, “flickish” is not a word.
Twilight is even more moronic than it was two sentences ago.
My next post will centre around my DVD collection, also known as my pride and joy, and the last 20 or so films that I added to it in the last week.
